Concrete Cutting & Core Drilling in Toronto and the GTA
Demstos provides concrete cutting and core drilling for commercial, industrial and institutional projects across Toronto, the GTA and southern Ontario. When a renovation needs a new opening, a trench for plumbing or a penetration for mechanical and electrical services, our crews cut accurately and cleanly so the rest of the work can go ahead. As a demolition contractor with more than 16 years in the trade, we handle cutting and coring as part of a bigger scope or as a stand-alone service.
Concrete Cutting Services
- Slab saw cutting: cutting floor slabs for trenches, drains, new plumbing and slab removal
- Wall sawing: new door, window and passage openings in concrete and block walls
- Trenching: narrow cuts for underground services during tenant fit-outs
- Controlled removal: cutting concrete into manageable sections for removal from inside the building
Core Drilling
Core drilling makes clean, round penetrations through slabs and walls. It is the standard way to route plumbing, electrical conduit, sprinkler lines, HVAC and data cabling between floors or through walls. We core holes in a range of diameters for mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades and coordinate locations with the GC and the trades who need them.
Scanning and Planning Before We Cut
Concrete slabs and walls can contain rebar, post-tension cables and live conduit. Cutting into the wrong thing is dangerous and expensive. Before we cut or core, we confirm locations against drawings and provide concrete scanning, so penetrations avoid what is embedded in the concrete. Where cuts affect the structure, we work from an engineer’s direction.
Clean Work for Occupied Buildings
Much of our cutting and coring happens in buildings that stay open: offices, retail, warehouses and institutions. We use water control, slurry management, dust control and protection to keep the work area tidy, and we schedule noisy work outside business hours when building rules require it.
Part of a Complete Demolition Scope
Cutting and coring often goes together with other work we do. A tenant fit-out may need a commercial interior strip-out followed by slab trenching. A building repositioning may need selective structural demolition with wall and slab openings. If older finishes contain asbestos, our asbestos abatement team can deal with them first. One contractor means one schedule and fewer handoffs.
Who We Work With
- General contractors who need a dependable sub for openings and penetrations
- Mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades that need cores in the right place on time
- Property managers who need tenant improvement work done with minimal disruption
- Building owners planning renovations or upgrades

Concrete Cutting & Coring FAQ
Do you scan concrete before cutting or coring?
Yes. We offer concrete scanning and check locations against drawings before every cut or core, to avoid rebar, post-tension cables and live services.
Can you cut concrete inside an occupied building?
Yes. We control water, slurry and dust, protect surrounding areas and can work after hours to avoid disturbing tenants.
Can you make a new opening in a structural wall?
Yes, with direction from a structural engineer. The engineer specifies any shoring or reinforcement, and we complete the cut to their design.
Do you remove the cut concrete?
Yes. We cut concrete into manageable pieces, remove it from the site and clean up.
